Teach Them To Obey Everything

Matthew 28:20
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Effective discipling is a command from Jesus, we have to take it very seriously.

Goal of a discipler : present everyone perfect in Christ.

Colossians 1:28
We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

1. Meet your disciples daily

Hebrews 3:12-13
12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.
13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.

This scriputre shows us the responsibility we all have as disciplers to encourage one another daily.

How can you do that? Well, when you meet them ask them the following question :

(i) How was your day?
(ii) How was everything at work / college?
(iii) How is your family?
(iv) How is your studies going on?
(v) How are you doing?
(vi) Is there anything you want to confess?
(vii) How are you feeling about your christian life?
(viii) How is your relationship with other brothers and sisters in the church?
(ix) How is your Bible study? [ if not done share a scripture with them ]
(x) Did you pray today? [ if they say no, make sure you pray with them then and there and help them to be close to God ]
(xi) Did you meed anyone today? [ If they say no, you go out with them to evangelize ]

Our goal is to become best friends with our disciples and not their master or their ruler or their boss.

2. Use the Bible

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

a. Do a 45 minute Bible study every week with your disciples.
b. With newly baptized disciples do 2 follow-up studies in a week.
c. When you do the Bible study with disciples
   (i) Ask them to read the scriputure
(ii) Ask them to explain what they understood from the scripture
(iii) And then only you do the explanation and teaching.
